Parquet FSC®

Helping forests and protecting the environment simply by choosing the right flooring. Demanding parquet in your home or work area guarantees aesthetics, wellbeing and indoor quality, but demanding parquet with FSC® certification helps promote the responsible management of forests globally.

This specific standard means that wood cladding which is truly responsible can stand out on the market. All this because of a multitude of factors tied to efficient and sustainable forest management, but also to biodiversity preservation and respect of the communities that live in the different cutting areas. This is why Corà chose to become a company with FSC® certification.

Our mission? To leave future generations with a forest biosystem that is intact by protecting a material which, processed using renewable sources, is safe from its very roots, and by using products that are suitable for indoor use according to law.

FSC® certification

The Forest Stewardship Council® – FSC® is an international non-profit organisation that promotes the responsible management of forests all over the world.

FSC® defines standards based on recognised principles of responsible forest management that are supported by operators who are active environmentally, socially and economically. For more information, visit the site www.fsc.org.

FSC® certified forests must respect ten main principles (view list), which include preserving the forest ecosystems, respecting human rights and labour, and promoting ethical business procedures.

FSC® is recognised globally and is “an environmental and socially responsible footprint” for forest products. They are values that Corà has chosen to make its own for virtuous raw material traceability: our company, in fact, has FSC® Chain of Custody Certification so it can confirm to its end clients that the raw material used, along the whole transformation supply chain and up to the finished product, comes from certified forests.

Choosing wood helps forests

But what does managing a forest responsibly actually mean? It means unmasking a false myth, namely that cutting trees damages the planet. In truth, each plant is a main part of our ecosystem. Young trees grow quickly, storing carbon dioxide that transforms into wood and releases oxygen.

This process, however, slows down as trees age. Through selective cutting in forests, the plants that have reached the end of their CO2 storage capacity are identified, younger trees are replanted, or space is left for new trees. Younger plants reduce the risk of fire spreading, and have greater exchange and storage capacities. So yes, choosing wood for furniture and cladding is a choice that helps nature.

Why Corà chose FSC® certification

There are plenty of reasons why we chose wood with FSC® certification, but these ones are closest to our heart:

Environmental sustainability

Parquet with FSC® certification helps protect and preserve the forests of our planet. We are committed to respecting responsible forest management, as well as to guaranteeing the regeneration of natural resources and the preservation of biodiversity.

Social responsibility

FSC® certification also considers the social impacts of forest activities. The local communities that depend on the forests for their support are involved with, and benefit fairly from, the forest resources.
